Kidnapping situation resolved at Hendersonville apartments

WKRN web staff – HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Police were called to a kidnapping Tuesday evening where a man was reportedly held against his will for over 24 hours at a Hendersonville apartment complex.

Authorities told News 2 police were notified of the situation around 5 p.m. at the Hickory Pointe Apartments on Center Pointe Road.

Hendersonville police said the person was taken against their will around 8 p.m. on Monday and was able to free themselves and escape the apartment around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim was interviewed by detectives and transported to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Officers attempted to make contact with the occupants of the apartment upon their arrival, but no one would answer the door.

SWAT officers were called to the scene and were able to enter the apartment around 10 p.m.

“Once we got the complaint, we tried to make contact with folks inside the apartment. There was no answer at the door. At that point all we could do was wait to obtain a search warrant to go inside and determine if there was someone inside the apartment,” said Det. Sgt. Jim Vaughn.

The incident was resolved peacefully and Hendersonville police said the suspect never made any threats to law enforcement nor had any contact with them until police entered the building.

Hendersonville police described the apartment as a crime scene and the investigation is ongoing.

During the ordeal, the road into the complex was shut down to anyone trying to enter. Residents were not allowed back home, prompting a nearby church, Restoring Hope Church, to open their doors and provide food to those displaced.

“We had to move people out of the apartment complex to make sure that no one got injured, as we moved them out, Restoring Hope Church up here actually opened up their doors to allow the people from the apartment complex to come in. They said up to 25 volunteers that came out to help these folks who were displaced tonight,” added Vaughn.
