Mary Ann Bolen

Mary Ann Bolen, 71, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at Southeast Hospital.

She was born Jan. 23, 1946, in St. Louis to Thomas and Thelma Wentz Kohnen. She and Jess R. Bolen were married Nov. 19, 1966, in Cape Girardeau.

She attended First Pentecostal Church in Cape Girardeau. She was a very influential member of the Capaha Field Improvement Committee over 25 years. Mary was the executive general manager of the Capahas baseball team. She was the only woman ever inducted to the Semi-Pro Baseball Hall of Fame in Evansville, Indiana.

Mary was selfless, humble and welcoming. She was extremely loyal to all causes concerning the Capahas baseball team. She was tireless in her fundraising efforts to fund the team’s ongoing expenses. She was the kindest person Jess ever met. Mary would go above and beyond the limits to be with her cherished family and to help people.

Survivors include her husband, Jess R. Bolen of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Jess R. (Julie) Bolen Jr. of Cape Girardeau and Tommy (Nicole) Bolen of Jackson; two daughters, Kim (Darren) Moore of Ashland, Missouri, and Michele (Eddie) Valek of San Antonio; a brother, Robert (Patty) Kohnen of Holts Summit, Missouri; two sisters, Rosemary (John) Gibson of Alton, Illinois, and Joan (Mike) Jones of Hendersonville, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Michael (Jami) Troth, Brooke Troth, Johnny Troth, T.J. Bolen, Ty Bolen, Annette Bolen, Aaron Denson and Cody Hagen; and three great-grandchildren, Jayce Troth, Brody Troth and Blakely Troth.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
